Ducati has announced its first signing for the 2025 MXGP season. This is Jeremy Seaverwho joins the project as part of a two-year deal covering the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
The 30-year-old Siver will join the Italian manufacturer in his first season in the MXGP championship, while the Swiss rider will fight for his eighth season in the premier category.
Siver’s history in MXGP is mainly marked by a stay at Yamaha, where he arrived in 2018 and stayed until the end of 2023.
The #91 then joined Kawasaki in 2024, but despite two overall podiums this season and a win in the first race at MXGP in Turkey, Seever has generally struggled to find consistency on the KX450F.
13 times grand prix winner (5 times in MX2, 8 times in MXGP)Siver will be a good test of the capabilities of Ducati’s Desmo450 MX machine and show us where it really stands in relation to its competitors.
Earlier this year, at the Dutch MXGP in Arnhem, Ducati made its MXGP debut with nine-time world champion Antonio Cairoli signed by Ducati at the end of 2023 as a Desmo450 test rider.
Cairoli, who last raced at the 2021 grand prix, finished an encouraging seventh in the qualifying race, before finishing 15th in two races on Sunday before retiring with a mechanical problem.
The Desmo450 MX also appeared in this year’s Prestige MX1 Italian Motocross Championship, taking overall wins with Alessandro Lupino at the two final rounds: Ponte a Egola and Castiglione del Lago. Lupino leads the drivers’ standings ahead of the final round in Faenza, which will be held on September 21 and 22.
