DU’s Rokeya Hall students were declared political-free by throwing out the student league leaders

The general students of Dhaka University kicked out the student league members from Rokeya Hall. At the same time, the students declared Rokeya Hall to be free from politics. At that time they issued a written declaration signed by the principal.

This incident happened on Tuesday midnight. The students chanted ‘Bhua Bhua’ as the leaders were kicked out one by one.

In a video that went viral on Facebook, Atika Binte Hossain, president of BCL’s Rokeya Hall branch and organizing secretary of BCL, was caught and thrown out.

After that the students decided to declare Rokeya Hall political free. At this time, under pressure, the principal of the hall, Professor Dr. Nilufar Parveen also signed the written declaration.

The written announcement said, ‘We girls of Rokeya Hall are writing today that from today 17-07-2024 any kind of student politics (Chatra League, Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal, Jamaat-Shibir etc.) is banned inside Rokeya Hall. There will be no political room or public room, no political program, no political involvement with the hall.’

They further said, ‘If we girls of the hall are harmed in any way by these groups, then the administration and the hall provost will have to take this responsibility. Rokeya Hall has been declared free from student politics from today.

Meanwhile, to save the students from the attack, it is said that the resident teacher and principal of the hall helped the students to get out safely.

Eyewitnesses said that Rokeya Hall Chhatra League President Atika Binte Hosai and other activists entered the hall at around eleven o’clock. The other students in the hall got angry after knowing this.

The angry students brought the BCL workers out of their rooms. When the situation escalates, they are thrown out in the presence of the principal.
