Dyson releases new Ontrac headphones for SEK 5,790

Dyson, probably best known for its vacuum cleaners, now launches the noise-cancelling over-ear headphones Dyson Ontrac. According to Dyson, the headphones sample sound 384,000 times per second with active noise reduction and the headphones should remove sound below 40 dB.

The Dyson Ontrac is available in aluminium/orange, copper/blue, black nickel and ceramic red. Then you can also customize the headphones with covers and cushions that you choose yourself, but it will cost an extra penny of SEK 590 per pair. Dyson claims that there are as many as 2,000 possible combinations.

This is what the headphones look like in copper/blue.

In 2022, Dyson released the Zone headphones that came with an air purifier that covered the mouth. The air purifier would ensure that you – hear and be amazed – breathe clean air while listening to your favorite tunes. Zone was not a big success for Dyson due to its short battery life and the high price tag of USD 949, which corresponds to around SEK 10,000.

On these two fronts, the Dyson Ontrac appears to be an improvement. The headphones have a battery life of up to 55 hours with noise reduction switched on, but probably longer without noise reduction. How much is unclear. The headphones will cost SEK 5,790, if you ignore the covers and cushions that you selected yourself.

The price tag puts the Dyson Ontrac on track to be slightly more expensive than other higher-end headphones like the Sonos Ace and Bose QuietComfort Ultra Wireless. The Dyson Ontrac will go on sale in Sweden in August.
