A little after 11 o’clock, the earthquake shook the inhabitants of Rijeka and the surrounding area. It was also felt in the south of Slovenia.
Seismographs of the Slovenian national network of earthquake observatories detected an earthquake of magnitude 3.0 near Reka. To be exact, the epicenter was eight kilometers northwest of Reka, at a depth of two kilometers.
“It was quick and short, but it shook well,” wrote one of the residents of the village of Dražice, located six kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake, on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). Some compared the sound of the earthquake to thunder or an explosion, while others saw wardrobes, chairs and beds swaying.
Residents of the municipalities of Ilirska Bistrica, Pivka, Postojna and Kočevje also felt the shaking and reported it to the Slovenian Environment Agency (Arso), and one response was also recorded from the area of the Ljubljana city municipality.
