Zucchini is rich in vitamins and minerals that are responsible for the functioning of almost all vital systems in the body, namely: B vitamins (B1, B2, B9), ascorbic acid (only 100 g of zucchini contain almost 17% of the daily intake recommended), nicotinic acid, vitamins A and E, iron, magnesium, zinc and potassium.
Daily consumption of pumpkin gives a boost to the active functioning of the immune system, says Russian doctor Natalia Ignatova.
“They contain vitamins B1, B2, B9, A, E, PP, trace elements – iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium, which makes this vegetable indispensable for the heart, especially for patients with diseases of the cardiovascular system; it must be consumed to prevent high blood pressure and coronary heart disease, arrhythmias,” says the specialist.
Zucchini contains magnesium and potassium, which directly affect the nutrition of the heart muscle. The vegetable also contains iron, which helps stabilize blood circulation and increase the amount of oxygen in the blood. The higher the oxygen level, the more resistant and stronger the body, especially the heart, becomes. It is worth noting that zucchini contains practically no sodium, which makes it very useful for people with various diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Other benefits of zucchini
Due to the porous structure, pumpkins can accumulate not only useful, but also harmful substances. If grown in contaminated soils full of fertilizers, nitrates, pesticides and other chemicals, they can cause allergies, nausea and even poisoning.
“If there are obvious signs of infection, the plant should not be consumed. Such fruits can accumulate various toxic substances that can harm health,” says Dr. Natalia Ignatova.
The doctor adds that, otherwise, all the harm from pumpkin comes down to personal intolerance and contraindications.
