Young researchers of Serbia invite all young creators, aged six to 18, to participate in the unique ecological and artistic competition “Danube Artist 2024”.
Educators, teachers, teaching assistants, coordinators and others from all schools, non-governmental organizations, clubs, day care centers or associations for children are invited to join as mentors and provide support to children in creating a work of art for participation in competitions. This year’s theme is “Keep the Danube blue!”, and the children’s task is to present their vision and message about the preservation of the Danube through artwork, photography or video.
The “Danube Artist” competition is part of the international Danube Art Master competition, which gathers thousands of children throughout the Danube river basin, teaches them about the importance and importance of rivers, and provides an opportunity to express their opinion about the future of their environment through creative works.
How to participate?
Children and young people can participate as individuals or as a group. They need to visit the shore of any river or lake in the Danube river basin in the territory of the Republic of Serbia, explore the shores, observe the flora and fauna near the water, collect materials and create an ecological work of art using the material they found by the river, take a video or photograph. The work should show us how they see and experience the rivers and lakes of their region and why it is important to preserve them.
Competitors can submit one work of their choice from three categories: artwork, photography and video. The winners from Serbia will continue to compete at the international level, with their peers from another 13 countries of the Danube basin.

“Danube Artist” is an international, ecological and artistic competition organized by the International Commission for the Danube River Basin and the Global Water Partnership for Central and Eastern Europe, which this year is realized with the financial support of ERSTE Group. The competition has been held in 14 countries in the Danube river basin since 2004. Young researchers of Serbia have been coordinating this competition in Serbia since 2010 at the proposal of the Republic Water Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia.
