The STAX Spirit S5 has a Bluetooth 5.4 connection and was designed with mobility in mind.
Edifier presented its latest headphones with a planar system (but with magnetic drive instead of electrostatic). The STAX Spirit S5 is not cheap, it costs 500 dollars, but this is not surprising in light of the solution (and the sheepskin cover) used primarily in the high-end segment. Such planar solutions are often open, but here they are enclosed in a closed shell, and the surround shows that the company tried to design a solution optimized not for listening to music at home, but rather for travel. Accordingly, the earphones can be completely rotated and folded in, and the transmission of sounds can also be solved via Bluetooth 5.4 connection in addition to Type-C and analog cabling. In this case, the operating time reaches 80 hours, and most high-end codec solutions are supported, including aptX, LDAC and LHDC. A low-latency Game Mode is also available for those who want to play occasionally.
Snapdragon QCC5181 chips work in individually calibrated headphones at the factory, and their task is also to provide noise filtering that can be used during phone calls, relying on the double microphone. Personalization is possible through the phone ConneX app, and the wireless connection can work with two devices at the same time.
