Eintracht Frankfurt | This is what the SGE makers are planning with Mo Dahoud

In the final stretch of the summer transfer window, Eintracht Frankfurt sealed the signing of Mahmoud Dahoud last week. The midfielder came on a free transfer from English Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion after having played on loan at VfB Stuttgart in the second half of the season. After the international break, the 28-year-old could play his first minutes in the SGE jersey.

The day after his signing, Dahoud was not yet in the Hesse squad for his new teammates’ deserved 3-1 home win against 1899 Hoffenheim. Dahoud is now expected to use the international break to acclimatize in Frankfurt and impress his new head coach Dino Toppmöller.

In Brighton, he no longer had any prospects under the new team manager Fabian Hürzeler. Things are set to be completely different in Frankfurt, where those in charge are expecting a lot from his experience in the German top flight.

“He knows the Bundesliga, has played internationally at a high level, is very confident on the ball and resistant to pressure,” SGE sports director Markus Krösche was quoted as saying in “kicker”.

Dahoud played for Gladbach and BVB, among others

Dahoud has played 175 times for Borussia Mönchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga in his career, scoring twelve goals. However, he was not happy in the English Premier League, only making 14 appearances for the Seagulls across all competitions and was now allowed to move to Frankfurt on a free transfer.

“Mo is offensively oriented, turns up very quickly and tries to play the ball quickly into the half spaces or behind the chain,” said SGE head coach Dino Toppmöller about the playing qualities of the former German national player.

Frankfurt was active in the transfer market again last week after new signing Oscar Höjlund suffered a metatarsal fracture and will be out for months.
