DAPURPACUID – Honda Motor Co., Ltd officially collaborates with Nissan Motor Co., Ltd and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation to develop electric vehicles including their technology.
The three Japanese manufacturers agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to jointly discuss a further framework for car electrification technology.
The signing process was carried out on August 2 in Tokyo, Japan, based on an agreement previously signed by Honda and Nissan on March 15, 2024.
Honda and Nissan are working to accelerate initiatives aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and a society without traffic accidents.
To anticipate this, collaboration in various fields such as environmental technology, electrification technology, and software development as well as various discussions are carried out in a wider scope.
To accelerate this process, generate new value by integrating technologies and knowledge developed by each company to improve business efficiency.
Mitsubishi Motors’ involvement in the field and potential collaboration being considered and discussed by Honda and Nissan will not only add new knowledge and strength.
However, it will also provide synergy and further new business opportunities for the three companies, especially in the development of electrification technology.
Honda President and Representative Executive Officer, Toshihiro Mibe, admitted that the automotive industry is in a period of transformation that is said to only occur once in a century.
Mibe-san also hopes that the combination of technology including the knowledge developed by Honda and Nissan, as well as the strength and experience of Mitsubishi Motors, will more quickly resolve various issues related to electrification.
“It allows us to move faster to solve intelligence problems on a global scale, and helps lead societal reform at the forefront.”
On the other hand, Nissan President and CEO Makoto Uchida said that his party was pleased to welcome a new member in the strategic partnership between Honda and Nissan, Mitsubishi Motors.
According to him, the car manufacturer has unique technology and expertise and has collaborated with Nissan as a partner so far.
“Through this collaboration, we hope to grow into something that creates greater value, to bring unique products and services from each company that meet the diverse needs of sustainable customers.”
Takao Kato, Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors said that discussions between Honda and Nissan regarding this partnership have progressed.
And, Kato continued, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has decided to participate in the partnership framework. According to him, the collaboration is very important in today’s automotive industry.
