The Chinese invasion of Europe continues, and the new model arriving on the Old Continent is an electric pickup.
It is a model of the Maxus brand, which operates under SAIC, which is also the owner of MG. Maxus has unveiled its new eTerron 9 electric pickup at the Hanover show, which it calls “the first European 4×4 electric series pickup built on a special electric platform.”
The pickup is characterized by the New Electrified Mecha design, which includes a completely closed front fascia, vertical headlights with daytime running lights in the shape of the letter C, while under the hood there is a luggage compartment with a volume of 236 liters.
The pickup has a “sharp” body and plastic linings, as well as electric. tailgate and middle door that increase the loading space with the simple push of a button, so that it is possible to easily load objects up to 2.4 meters long.
Looking at the dimensions, the length of the pickup is 5500 mm, which means that it is 140 mm longer than the Ford Ranger and 175 mm longer than the Toyota Hilux.
And while the exterior is “generic”, the interior is quite interesting, with two-tone leather upholstery and free-standing screens. It is characterized by metal details, a floating central console and a two-spoke steering wheel. There are 20 compartments for storing various items, and the driver’s seat is electronically adjustable in eight directions and has a ventilation and massage function. Both front seats can be folded down, resulting in a flat sleeping surface with a length of 1700 mm.
The pickup is powered by two electric motors, which deliver 442 hp to all four wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.8 seconds. It received a battery with a capacity of 102 kWh, which enables a range of up to 430 kilometers. Using a 115 kW DC fast charger, the battery is charged from 20 to 80 percent in about 40 minutes. A Vehicle to Load function is available, which allows the battery to power multiple 2.2 kW and 6.6 kW sockets.
The Maxus eTerron 9 has a semi-monocoque, which offers a combination of the advantages of a one-piece construction and a body-on-frame construction. It can pull up to 3,500 kg of cargo, and the maximum load capacity is 620 kg.
Other features include height-adjustable air suspension and Normal, Sand, Mud and Custom ride modes.
Sales in Europe should start in the fourth quarter of the year.
