Electric Rivian R1T proves that it can do ‘truck things’: pulls the truck loose

Electric cars often have a lot of horsepower, but it is also often thought that electric pick-ups are not real pick-ups because they are not strong enough. A video of a Rivian R1T proves otherwise.

The market for pick-ups is not large in the Netherlands, but it is in America. Diehard pickup fans are not always fans of electric versions. Who doesn’t think that a pick-up is only really cool if it has a roaring V8 in the nose?

Rivian, an American brand, builds electric pickups, including the Rivian R1T. That truck, as pick-ups are often called in America, has officially proven itself.

Rivian pulls out truck

Ken Kring, who previously worked at Rivian, saw a truck stranded in the mud in front of his house this week. No one could get rid of the heavy combination, so Kring decided to test his Rivian R1T.

“With the driver’s permission, I pulled out the towing equipment from my Rivian R1T (freshly unpacked!) and looped the belt around the trailer,” he writes on LinkedIn. He then agreed on a horn system with the driver of the truck: two honk once for reverse, one for stop. “Slowly but surely, with all four electric motors working together, my Rivian freed the truck.”

According to Kring, the video he shares with his post is proof that electric pickups are capable of doing “truck rings.” If you want to judge that for yourself, you can see the video here.
