Electric vans with long range a reality: Danish premiere for Toyota Proace Max at eComExpo

Large electric vans have long been far behind passenger cars when it comes to range.

But this year there have been several models with a range of over 400 km.

Several of them appear on eComExpo in BellaCenter 24-25 October, including the brand new Toyota Proace Max, which will have its Danish premiere at the fair.

It has long been almost impossible to acquire a large electric van with a reasonable range. For most people, 400 km is the magic limit that allows you to seriously consider electric operation for your business. As recently as last year, there were no such vans on the market.

– If you have needed vans in the 3.5 ton class with standing height, you have had to choose diesel, notes Camilla Messer Thomsen from the fair organizer eLife.

– But this year it has finally turned.

By 2024, several major manufacturers have launched large, long-range vans. Both the Mercedes-Benz eSprinter and the Renault Master eTech have been upgraded to ranges of over 400 km on country roads – and even longer in city traffic. Both of these models will be on display at eComExpo in the Bella Center.

There will also be a Danish premiere for the brand new Toyota Proace Max – the Japanese manufacturer’s new and first model in the large class. The new van is launched with electric drive from the start and gets up to 270 hp and a large battery of 110 kW, which gives a range of up to 420 km.

– The vans in this class are in many ways the backbone of our society, says Camilla Messer Thomsen.

– They deliver goods to shops, they come with our packages, and they are used by all kinds of craftsmen. The fact that electric models with a long range are now finally coming will mean a lot for the green transformation of the entire transport sector.
