BANJALUKA – Locals of Bočac near Banja Luka are collateral damage of local politics and the inaction of the competent institutions, which will leave the village where about 1,700 people lived until before the war, left deserted.
Namely, although it is located in the immediate vicinity of the hydroelectric power station of the same name, the biggest problem of this local community is the poor supply of electricity.
It was the same for the past few days when they were in the dark for days due to snow and precipitation.
This made many angry because a few months ago they received a new transformer – a station bought by the mayor of Banja Luka, Draško Stanivuković, which the competent “Elektrokrajina” does not want to install and connect to the system and thus make life easier for everyone.
Stanivuković bought the transformer station in the midst of the pre-election campaign. It is located in the same place where it was unloaded, in the yard of local resident Stojan Vrebac.
Vrebac confirmed to us that she mostly rots there and collects dust.
„That’s our policy, hit everything on the people. “Eletrokrajina” will not connect the transformer because the mayor bought it. If anyone has it, I would prefer to sell it if I don’t mind“, says Vrebac in a joking tone.
In “Elektrokrajina” they say that the problem is in the documentation. They add that the transformer was not included in their fixed assets, because, they claim, the City made an omission.
„The city of Banjaluka did not initiate the prescribed legal procedure for the alleged donation of the transformer in question and its possible entry into the fixed assets of this company, and therefore it cannot be used without authorization by us.“, they say.
However, they claim that they are building their own transformer station on the territory of this local community.
„A pillar has been installed at the intended location, and the installation of the substation will follow as soon as the low-voltage network failures caused by the snowstorm in the past few days are repaired as a matter of priority in that area“, they promise in this company.
As a reminder, on September 26, Stanivuković announced via social networks that he bought the station out of his own pocket and thus solved a long-standing problem.
“Despite the numerous obstructions and blockades that came from SNSD through their institutions, I decided to use my own funds to provide for the construction of a transformer station and thus solve a decades-long problem that led to frequent breakdowns of electrical devices in the households of this settlement“, he wrote then.
One of the biggest priorities of the residents of Bočac was the construction of a transformer station.
