Elias Charalambous, about the possible departure of Darius Olaru: “It would be a good thing for him”
Glasgow Rangers have set their sights on Darius Olaru again. The Red-Blues captain could finally land a move abroad after proving in recent seasons that he can play at the highest level. The press in Great Britain launched the first rumors according to which Philippe Clement and Rangers would be interested in the Romanian player, but the move would cost him quite a lot, Gigi Becali not willing to give up his “pearl” under 5 million euros.
The coach of the Super League champion stated that he did not know about the rumors released in the foreign press related to the transfer of Darius Olaru, but he would be happy if he went to an important team because it would be a step in his career, although FCSB would suffer.
“I don’t know anything about these rumors, honestly, I’m hearing from you now. I would like to say that I would be very pleased if our players manage to reach a higher level. Because it would be a good thing both for them and for Romanian football. Obviously not for us because we would lose players of such value, but we want their good on the other hand”, said Elias Charalambous, at the press conference.
Impressive numbers for Olaru at FCSB
Gigi Becali transferred Darius Olaru in 2020 from Gaz Metan Mediaș, in exchange for the sum of 600,000 euros. He collected 194 matches at FCSB, scoring 43 goals and providing 35 assists.
This season he made 20 appearances in the red-blue shirt, scored 10 goals and provided 5 decisive assists. The player’s fee is 7 million euros, according to Transfermarkt.
Things are not exactly good for the captain of the red-blues who he was injured in the Romanian Cup. Olaru collapsed on the turf after a sprint towards Dinamo’s box and complained of pain in the thigh of his left leg. The medical team intervened and he was urgently replaced with Alex Băluță.
The financier FCSB announced what problems the midfielder is facing. The injury suffered is not very serious, but it requires a period of recovery, so he will miss the weekend duel with Craiova University.
“He has a rupture that is not in the tendon, as such Marijana can intervene. He will not play with Craiova, but will return later. He’s a footballer, it happens. I don’t think it’s very serious”, announced Gigi Becali, la Digisport.
