Elon Musk has turned into an internet troll and is encouraging his followers to do the same –

The owner of the social media platform, which has been renamed from Twitter to X, is inciting his followers to attack federal officials he doesn’t like.

He supported South African-born billionaire Donald Trump’s presidential campaign with all the means at his disposal, and after the Republican candidate won a confident victory, he was rewarded. In accordance with his request, he received a government position at the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) alongside Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman of Indian origin and former Republican presidential candidate. Musk will not perform his duties as a member of the government, so he does not have to resign from the management of his companies due to a conflict of interest.

The aim of the new ministry would, in principle, be to find and identify unnecessary spending, thereby cutting the budget and eliminating waste. Of course, the apparatus has not yet been set up, and this will only happen after the inauguration of Donald Trump in January, but Elon Musk has already started the work, with a very special method.

A Wall Street Journal drew attention to the fact that the owner of X (formerly Twitter) is, figuratively speaking, pushing federal officials who, in his opinion, are symbols of government overspending, in front of his multi-million followers. So did Ashley Thomas, the climate director of the United States Agency for International Development, whose salary one commentator said should not be paid by taxpayers, and Musk shared the comment that there are so many bogus jobs. The reaction was exactly what one could expect, massive online harassment immediately started against Thomas, who subsequently set his Linkedin and Facebook profiles to private.

According to Everett Kelley, president of the American Government Employees Association, these posts are intended to intimidate federal employees. Like that The Verge pointed out, this method was never far from Musk, who previously hid behind the idea of freedom of speech, calling Vernon Unsworth, the diver involved in the rescue of children trapped in a cave in Thailand, a pedophile, as well as Yoel Roth, the former head of Twitter.
