Elon Musk proposes cognitive testing for US elected officials

Former Texas congresswoman and ex-chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, Kay Granger, has been diagnosed with dementia, according to a statement provided by her son, Brandon Granger, to the Dallas Morning News. She currently lives in a care facility.

His proposal provoked mixed reactions. Brian Stelter, senior media analyst at CNN, for example, commented on the idea, pointing out that such a measure could generate political and legal controversy, but that the debate over the competence of public officials is a relevant one in the current context.
