Neuralink has posted a new ad seeking subjects to test the “Luke Skywalker Solution.”
After already having great results controlling video games, Elon Musk’s implant company Neuralink is ready to take it to the next level. He will soon start another round of tests, during which he hopes to get an answer to the question of whether volunteers can control a remote robotic arm using their minds. According to the post on X, a “feasibility trial” will follow.
Enterprising test subjects can now submit their applications if they are Canadian or US residents. The selected individuals will then be implanted with the chip and see if they can cope with controlling a robotic arm.
Musk previously referred to the matter as the “Luke Skywalker solution”, but neither he nor the representatives of Neuralink found out what exactly will happen during the tests. Regardless, this will not be the first time that someone deals with similar experiments. Back in 2015, Caltech, the California Institute of Technology, tried a similar technology when they tested the control of a robotic arm using a “brain augmentation device.” Erik Sorto was able to drink a bottle of beer with his arm, as well as play rock, paper, scissors with it.
We’re excited to announce the approval and launch of a new feasibility trial to extend BCI control using the N1 Implant to an investigational assistive robotic arm.
This is an important first step towards restoring not only digital freedom, but also physical freedom. More info…

It will be worth keeping an eye on the project, because if it is successful, it could open a new era in the care of the disabled.
