Sir Elton John has announced that he has been left with “limited vision” in one eye due to a “severe infection”. The 77-year-old artist explained on Instagram that the recovery is slow and that it will take time for his vision to return to normal.
Sir Elton John has announced that, following a severe infection he developed over the summer, he has been left with “limited vision” in one of his eyes, Sky News reports.
The 77-year-old singer said the recovery process is “extremely slow” and it will be a long time before vision in the affected eye returns to normal.
“This summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe infection”
“This summer I had to deal with a severe infection which unfortunately left me with limited vision in one eye. I’m recovering, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will be a few months before my vision improves,” the singer told his 4.9 million Instagram followers.
The artist also thanked his doctors and family, who have cared for him in recent weeks.
“Take the time you need to recover Elton”
Several celebrities responded to his post, including fashion designer Donatella Versace, radio host Bob Harris and actor Layton Williams.
“Take the time you need to recover, Elton. We’ll be here waiting for you to come back when you’re healthy and ready,” commented Donatella Versace.
At the same time, the documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late”, about his life, will have its European premiere at the BFI Film Festival in London.
