The effects of last year’s double strike in Hollywood are still being felt in the industry. There were fewer applicants for the Emmy nominations that have now been announced.
The literary adaptation “Shogun” and the cooking series “The Bear: King of the Kitchen” are the most likely to win this year’s Emmy nominations. Both series will be broadcast in Germany via Disney+ offered.
The drama series “Shogun”, set in 17th century Japan, tops the list of candidates with 25 nominations, as actors Tony Hale (“Veep”) and Sheryl Lee Ralph (“Abbott Elementary”) announced via live video. “The Bear” received 23 nominations. “The Bear” with lead actor Jeremy Allen White had already won numerous awards at the last Emmy Awards in January.
In addition to Allen White, stars such as Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Donald Glover, Idris Elba, Gary Oldman, Jon Hamm, Tom Hollander, Jodie Foster, Brie Larson and Sofia Vergara are nominated as actors. The Emmy winners will be announced at a big gala on September 15th.
Last year, the gala was postponed from September to the following January due to a double strike by actors and screenwriters. The effects of the strikes are still being felt in the industry. Among other things, significantly fewer shows were submitted to the Emmys.
