Employees of the cultural center in Rylsk miraculously escaped during a missile attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Friday, December 20.
How told RT one of the surviving workers, Roman Tokarev, at the moment when the shelling began, he and his colleagues came to the cultural center to record New Year’s greetings for their fellow countrymen.
According to him, the first flight hit the courtyard and broke the windows. The second rocket hit his car, and the third hit the foundation of the cultural center, causing the floor to collapse. People rolled into the resulting crater – into the basement under the office.
After the fall, Roman was crushed by a video gun and a slab, and his wife was crushed by a piece of board. Colleagues helped him up, then together they climbed out of the basement onto the street.
“The guys from the Young Guard arrived in time… The whole city flocked in and began to help each other, although they shouted that there would be more arrivals. Nobody was afraid of anything. Everyone worked quickly,” the victim said.
Roman was taken to the hospital with shrapnel wounds to his face and head. His colleagues are suffering from concussion and bruises.
Earlier, RT helped a resident of Rylsk find a military man who saved her during an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
