On the basis of a DR documentary, which uncovers objectionable working conditions for migrant workers in Denmark, a number of employees are sent home from work on three public buildings in Denmark.
This is written by DR, which says that there are “several hundred employees”. The documentary is entitled “At the state’s expense”.
According to DR, this is about the construction of the new large hospitals in Odense and Køge as well as the construction of the Storstrømsbroen.
According to DR, the documentary reveals objectionable conditions under the Italian construction company Itinera. Itinera is the main contractor on the construction projects.
It was supposed to be an Albanian subcontractor, a company called Tekno Fire, which has been suspended.
The Albanian employees are on the amount scheme in Denmark, which states that you must earn at least 487,000 monthly to get a work permit through the scheme.
But in the documentary, employees say that they have been required to hand over part of the salary back to the employer.
DR has spoken to the owner and director of Tekno Fire, who denies having knowledge of the circumstances.
Itinera also denies to DR that it has knowledge of the case, which in a written comment is called “reprehensible”.
Here it also says that Itinera has contacted “relevant authorities”.
All three buildings have been affected by massive delays.
The trade journal 3F has also previously described that there have been cases of underpayment of employees on the three construction sites. 3F also wrote in September that the Norwegian Road Administration has excluded Itinera from being able to bid on construction projects in Norway.
