The crisis of the moderates

15. august: Current and former employees of the Moderates send a five-page document to the Norwegian Working Environment Authority with complaints about poor working environment and sexist culture.

29. august: Member of Parliament Jeppe Søe sends a warning email to members of the Moderates’ main board. He demands an impartial investigation of the party.

30. august: BT brings the first revelations of the conditions in the Moderates.

31. august: Member of Parliament Karin Liltorp also demands an impartial investigation into the case. She has since withdrawn and now supports the party’s decision.

2. september: The management calls all employees to a crisis meeting that lasts nine hours. Subsequently, party chairman Lars Løkke Rasmussen says that they will appoint a business psychologist and introduce a whistleblower scheme.

3. september: Jeppe Søe avoids Lars Løkke and maintains his demand for an impartial investigation.

5. september: A story about text messages between Løkke’s adviser and a former employee’s employer is published. The story is later partially denied. Jeppe Søe withdraws from the Moderates.

23. september: Three employees in the party will be released, while seven others choose a voluntary resignation. The entire political department in the secretariat disappears.
