In January 2025, the Center for Professions of the Future and the social network for business TenChat conducted a survey among representatives of 500 companies and found out what requirements employers in Russia set for applicants. Some of the most sought-after qualities and skills include experience, higher education, high learning ability and flexibility.
Employers began to value creativity less (11%) and flexibility more (36%)

For most applicants, experience and competence are more important than age, as 64% of respondents say. writes “Gazeta.Ru”, which got acquainted with the results of the study. Yet 36% of employers agreed that they give preference to young professionals.
If we talk about education, higher and secondary specialized education are in approximately the same demand: 37% and 30%, respectively, and another 21% of respondents claim that a diploma is not important to them, but only the experience of the applicant.
40% of respondents named his high learning ability as the determining factor when choosing a candidate. For 20% of voters, knowledge of a foreign language is of fundamental importance. 16% of respondents welcome initiative in work, and 14% pay attention to experience in similar projects. 11% of employers value all of the following in a potential employee.
Separately, company managers emphasized the necessary flexibility of future employees: it was noted both among personal qualities (36% of respondents named it a key feature when hiring) and among professional skills (“soft skills” are in demand among 49% of employers).
Initiative and ingenuity are welcomed by only 11% of respondents; teamwork also fades into the background (13%). In addition to the already mentioned flexibility, employers are interested in experience working with modern technologies (17%).
At the same time, managers hiring employees have become more loyal to part-time work (40%) and the “zigzag” career of applicants (57%). Several projects, work in various fields, according to employers, show the “observation” of the staff, the ability to network and being in demand in the labor market.
Although 42% still do not welcome a sudden change in activity, and 27% still do not believe that combination can be effective and not distract from the “main” tasks.
