“Empty slogans don’t work.” According to Oleg Gross, the people have become wise

According to Oleg Gross, the owner of the Gross store chain, last year was successful for them, they do not do any advertising and he does not believe in throwing slogans at all, but the number of visits to the stores still increased by 10 percent.

“It’s always like this: when Estonia’s economy is in a worse state, we do better,” said Gross Delovõje Vedomostile. “We are a discount retailer and we focus on prices, so people have started to visit our stores more because they count money. People leave premium-stores and look for what is cheaper. Compared to last year, the number of visitors has increased by 10 percent.”

Does this mean that when Estonia’s economy grows, Grossi’s business will get worse? However, Gross does not predict a sudden rise in the Estonian economy and does not see any prerequisites for this.

“Nothing ever rises suddenly. The situation in the European Union is bad, but in Estonia things always go worse than in the EU. Therefore, I do not foresee any rapid rise. Sooner or later, the Estonian economy will recover, but it will definitely not happen suddenly,” said Gross.
