From a masked Olympic Torch Bearer darting on rooftops, to a singer blaring the French National Anthem from the top of a building, famous Singer Celine Dion singing halfway up the Eiffel Tower, the Athletes floating past on boats with their national colours and flags, the floating Olympic flame hoisting a hot air balloon into the night, plus the introduction of a Red Carpet prior to the Ceremony itself, the much renowned French Charm was in full flow and the wet weather did little to dampen the enthusiasm of thousands of fans along the banks of the River Seine

This was a fusion of Sports and Entertainment and further cemented the nexus between the two. Sports is indeed entertainment

If the Opening Ceremony is anything to go by, the Paris Olympics promises to provide Sports Drama on a different scale and you get the feeling one of two inspirational performances are in the offing.
