Ericsson’s hay is doing well in India

Ericsson won another mobile network tender in India. This time, the Swedish company will be able to deliver various 5G network components to Bharti Airtel, worth several billion dollars, writes the Reuters.

Less than a month ago, the company was announced as the winner of Vodafone Idea’s $3.6 billion 5G and 4G network development tender, where it won in a consortium with Nokia and Samsung.

In the world’s most populous country, 5G network modernization tenders have been at their peak since last year, which promises supplier partners huge business even if the region promises a smaller margin mass, such as North America or Europe.

Thanks to the acquisitions and tenders of local service providers, sales to the country have increased fivefold, and all this can successfully compensate for the declining traffic of operators operating in other regions – primarily in the United States – for Ericsson and its competitors.

Moreover, the composition of the technology suppliers of the Indian mobile market is also similar to the United States in that Chinese companies cannot be present in the critical infrastructures in the Southeast Asian country, so Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung have to compete with each other in the operator tenders.
