The curtain falls for the Dutch Esprit branch. Esprit Holdings Limited filed for bankruptcy for Esprit Europe BV (NLEB) on July 22, it was announced in a press release. What would happen to the stores was not mentioned. Now some Esprit stores appear to have already closed.
Esprit announces in ‘s-Hertogenbosch that it is ‘closed until further notice due to delivery problems, which means that there are no goods in the store’, according to the white flyer hanging on the store door.
The press release already emphasized that Esprit Holdings Limited no longer has any control over Esprit Europe BV and its subsidiaries. The company also has no control over the bankruptcy proceedings. It therefore depends on the administrators whether the stores will remain closed or whether they will temporarily open their doors for a possible sale. “The Company (Esprit Holdings Limited, ed.) understands that after completion of the bankruptcy proceedings, NLEB will be liquidated and that the current business activities of NLEB will be terminated,” Esprit said in the press release.
