Do we know that we can lose weight with the help of essential oils? Among other things, these oils help reduce excess weight by burning body fat, thus maintaining a healthy body weight. Alone or in combination, they offer stimulating, appetite-suppressing benefits that we can take advantage of when the urge to eat hits us. Certain oils are much more effective in helping you burn fat than others. These include grapefruit, peppermint or cinnamon oil to support weight loss.

Essential “miracle oils” work by promoting the body’s ability to burn fat. In addition to weight loss, they are also psychologically beneficial, so inhaling them has a direct effect on both body and soul. If we crave food when we’re stressed, essential oils can help change our thinking/urges. E.g. orange oil can relieve a bad mood, so we are less likely to try to cheer ourselves up with unhealthy, fattening foods.

Grapefruit oil for burning calories

Grapefruit essential oil is known to promote fat burning. An experimental Japanese study recently reported that inhaling grapefruit oils reduces appetite/craving and helps break down body fat. This is thermogenesis it is realized by increasing it, which means burning calories to produce body heat. The participants of the experiment inhaled this essential oil for 15 minutes, three times a week, and because of the said hunger-reducing effect, they ate less, and after a while they lost weight.

In addition, a Korean study also found that when postmenopausal women massaged their abdomens with a combination of grapefruit and cypress essential oils daily for six weeks (diluted with carrier oil), their abdominal fat, waist size and cellulite (cellulite) decreased.

Peppermint oil for vitality, improving digestion, reducing appetite.

Another useful oil is peppermint, which has a natural energizing effect. Einhaling its essential oil contributes to increasing lung capacity. Because of this, more oxygen enters the body and we feel more energetic. Once we are in a less stressful and calmer state, we will be more inclined to take care of our body, our weight, our appearance…

The benefits of peppermint are also accepted in terms of promoting digestion, as it has a calming, antispasmodic effect on the intestines. According to some studies, it relieves the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

For weight management, inhaling peppermint oil may reduce or eliminate the desire to eatand helps to create a feeling of satiety. Particularly effective is the so-called In the treatment of PMS syndrome – when a few days before menstruation a special desire appears for various foods, e.g. to eat chocolate or other sweets.

…as well as to encourage exercise

Regular exercise (ideally 30-45 minutes a day) is essential for maintaining good health and a suitable body weight. Peppermint oil can help increase energy and motivation so that we have the strength and desire to exercise.

When training or in case of any more intense physical activity, have a small bottle of peppermint essential oil, for immediate use. At the same time, peppermint can be mixed with other oils, e.g. as follows:

Mix 6 drops of peppermint, lavender, copaiba and creeping grouse (wintergreen) essential oil with 30 ml of jojoba oil in a small container. Rub it on sore muscles after training for immediate relief.

Cinnamon oil to balance blood sugar levels

This essential oil can be extracted from the bark or leaves of the plant. Cinnamon leaves contain an oil called eugenol, which has a natural anti-inflammatory effect, so it is often used to relieve pain. The oil is also rich in cinnamic aldehyde, which promotes calorie burning, and also contains camphor – both are strong antioxidants.

Many studies point out that cinnamon bark oil helps to lower blood sugar levels in some cases (e.g. type 2 diabetics). The cinnamon oil (when cinnamic aldehyde is oxidized) contains cinnamic acid, which stimulates healthy insulin production. Otherwise, both high and low blood sugar levels are associated with increased weight gain.

Relaxation to maintain slimness

One of the reasons for being overweight can be stress eating. If this is true for us, try using lavender essential oil as described below. It can help with weight loss by reducing anxiety and the urge to eat to relieve our anxiety.

Rub 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil into a fabric, or put 20 drops of it into the aromatherapy inhaler. Take deep breaths of the calming lavender aroma when you feel that stress is hitting you.
