The child had been stolen from Claudia Ciampa by deception during a holiday in Puglia. The padre he had told her that he would take the child for a walk: he never returned. Now the happy ending: Ethan will soon be returned to his mother’s love.

“I’m very happy, I can’t wait to hug him again,” Claudia Ciampa, who hasn’t seen her son since August 30th, told Tgr Campania.
“I can’t even believe it. Just hugging him again and telling him how much I love him will be beautiful, like seeing him smile, seeing him crawl, I haven’t seen him crawl yet. Seeing his progress, his new teeth… it will be beautiful” admitted the woman.
“I thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all the other Italian authorities for their solidarity and commitment for the good of my son and I thank the United States authorities for their prompt intervention” added Claudia Ciampa.
The steps to bring Ethan back to Piano di Sorrento
The reunion between mother and child will take place in a short time. After being placed under the care of local authorities, a judge quickly issued an emergency order to entrust the child to his mother, who is already ready to leave for California.
A hearing is scheduled in the next few days to define the modalities for the minor’s return to Italy, in accordance with the rules of the Hague Convention. The resolution of the case was possible thanks to the close collaboration between the Italian and US authorities, who combined efforts to bring little Ethan back into his mother’s arms.
“This affair has kept an entire nation in suspense,” he observed Gian Ettore GassaniClaudia Ciampa’s lawyer. “However, I have always cultivated the certainty that sooner or later there would be a happy ending in this story which has once again brought to attention a terrible phenomenon that concerns fathers and mothers”.
“The specific weight of our political and diplomatic authorities was once again decisive” underlined the lawyer. “I also thank, like Mrs. Ciampa, Minister Antonio Tajani and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Justice, as well as the diplomatic authorities in the United States, for having succeeded in an undertaking that seemed desperate”.
