Memories of the German national team at the 2024 European Championship caused only moderate interest for RTL. Overall, there was a “Wilsberg” crime thriller. Among other things, Bayern’s Bundesliga game in Gladbach scored points on Sky.
A camera team commissioned by Prime accompanied the German national team’s Winter World Cup in Qatar. The result was impressive and made many headlines; It’s just that the DFB didn’t seem to like the result. The European Championship in the summer of 2024 in our own country was also captured behind the scenes with cameras, which not everyone saw during the tournament. The difference: The DFB now commissioned a marketing agency; the association was the master of the images – and that was noticeable. Although “Our Team”, broadcast on RTL on Saturday evening at prime time, was quite nice: the work had absolutely nothing to do with journalism. “Our team” got an average market share of 10.1 percent among those being courted – and therefore only a moderate rate. Almost half a million 14 to 49 year olds watched from 8:15 p.m.
So this time RTL even fell behind a “Wilsberg” crime thriller that was surprisingly strong among young people. The cult series gave ZDF an 11.8 percent market share and around 530,000 viewers between 14 and 49. Overall, the 90-minute program was even the front runner on Saturday. As of 8:15 p.m., the production attracted a strong 6.8 million viewers and a 27.8 percent market share. A repeat of “The Public Prosecutor” (will be finished shortly) attracted around four and a half million people from 9:45 p.m.
NFL on RTL picks up at night
American Football on RTL provided decent ratings later in the evening. In the playoffs, Los Angeles and Houston faced off against each other from half past ten German time. 8.6 and 9.7 percent market share were measured in the first two quarters, 10.6 and 11.2 percent after the halfway point. There are no complete values for the second game yet, as the odds measurement always ends at three in the morning. In this respect, the data that is now missing will not come until Monday morning. The first quarter of the match between Pittsburgh and Baltimore brought in 11.7 percent, and the first minutes of the second period even increased to a very good 15.7 percent at night.
Sky can also be happy with the return of the Bundesliga: from 6:30 p.m., the pay broadcaster secured a strong 1.14 million viewers when FC Bayern won easily against Gladbach. Of these, 0.32 million were of the desired age, which accounted for nine percent. At the same time, the “Sportschau” on Erste, i.e. on free TV, had 3.48 million fans. Among younger people, 13.4 percent were found.
