Chittagong City Corporation initiated an evacuation operation in Pahartali area of the city on Thursday.
Chasik Executive Magistrate Chaiti Sarvavidya conducted the drive. During the operation, about 200 illegal shops were cleared from the footpaths and drains on both sides of the road, including the illegal market at Bitak junction of Sagarika Road in Pahartali.
At that time, 3 persons were fined Tk 12,000 for creating public nuisance by leaving construction materials on the footpath. During the operation, the concerned officers-employees of City Corporation, Pahartali Police Station and Chittagong Metropolitan Police Magistrate provided assistance.
