Last year, the rate of femicide based on intimate and partner relationships was highest in Africa (21,700 cases), followed by America and then Oceania. In Europe and America, the majority of women murdered within the family (64 percent and 58 percent, respectively) were victims of intimate partners, while in other parts of the world family members were the primary perpetrators.
