DAPURPACUID – The first appearance of the Suzuki eVX Concept to visitors at GIIAS 2024 was also the first time Suzuki Global had done this in the Southeast Asia region.
Placed as the ‘highest caste’ in the product line displayed at the Suzuki booth, it was stated that the presence of this SUV concept car is part of Suzuki’s global strategy.
“The debut of the Suzuki eVX is also part of the spirit of The New Adventure of Mobility Experience,” said President Director of PT SIS, Minoru Amano, on the sidelines of the opening of the Suzuki booth at GIIAS 2024, some time ago.
Amano-San added that Suzuki is currently developing various carbon neutral solutions for the global automotive industry, which is also part of Suzuki’s global Multi-pathway strategy.
It was stated that through this strategy, Suzuki is trying to overcome the current carbon neutrality problem, one of which is through the development of battery-based electric vehicles (BEV) which are currently a hot topic.
“We bring, show and introduce the concept of the eVX electric car to the Indonesian public, as a reference for the company’s future answer to the challenge of carbon neutrality,” said Amano.
For information, the appearance of the eVX in Indonesia is the 3rd time in the world after previously the concept car with a strong SUV genre was also introduced in India and Japan.
Suzuki’s global move also signifies the importance of appreciating the enthusiasm and awareness of Indonesian people towards environmentally friendly vehicles.
As is known, the development of environmentally friendly vehicles is also an important step for Suzuki Indonesia, as evidenced by the three hybrid models currently being marketed.
In fact, the three products, namely the Ertiga Hybrid, Grand Vitara and finally the New XL7 Hybrid, are part of the Low Carbon Emission Vehicle program in the Indonesian automotive market.
“Suzuki’s hybrid technology products have become the choice of the Indonesian people. Total sales have reached 25,000 units to date,” Amano said further.
Following these models, Suzuki principals in Japan are developing a series of BEV products as another alternative, which is included in one of Suzuki’s global strategies.
And the eVX itself is the first electric car concept from the EV world strategic model which is touted by Suzuki as an environmentally friendly vehicle in the form of an SUV, to be driven on-road and off-road.
Advanced Technology ‘Wrapped’ in a Thick Adventure Style
eVX is the first electric car concept from Suzuki’s EV world strategic model, with the capabilities of a tough SUV that can drive on asphalt and offroad terrain.
The Suzuki eVX Concept was officially introduced to the world public through the ‘window’ of the 2023 Auto Expo exhibition in India, as a step by the manufacturer to get involved in the transformation of the global electric vehicle industry.
Although it is relatively late to enter the industry (electric vehicles/EV), Suzuki is committed to enlivening it by presenting the eVX Concept.
Suzuki has officially named this car as the first full electric car model. Suzuki even has ambitions to launch the production version in the near future, or precisely in 2025.
The compact SUV style carried by eVX is a form of Suzuki’s response to suggestions from many customers in the global market. Including the use of batteries as its main power source.
Reportedly, Suzuki will use a special platform for electric vehicles, in order to design proportional designs that suit the needs of the global market.
The overall composition of the concept car design with a length of 4,300 mm, width of 1,800 mm, height of 1,800 mm, is in line with the ‘High-tech x Adventure’ theme carried by eVX.
Thanks to the use of this special platform, it is believed that it will provide flexibility in technology development, as well as cabin space in the electric SUV.
The theme is able to combine high technology with a strong SUV silhouette, where the lines on the exterior are able to express the strength and toughness of an SUV with the right dimensions.
The exterior of the eVX concept car seems to have embodied where the front fascia design of Suzuki’s future model line will go. This is evidenced by the design of the eVX’s V-shaped headlights, with unique DRLs.
Looking to the side, a dynamic yet muscular impression is seen from the roof design which tends to slope, as well as a fairly high ground clearance, giving the impression of an SUV coupe.
The rear glass section is quite small but at first glance reminds us of the rear of the latest version of the S-Cross. The rear lights merge from left to right in a smoke color.
The placement of the Suzuki (S) logo in the middle and the large eVX just below it. The rear bumper is also designed to be large, combining an under guard that emphasizes a tough impression.
The tough impression of an SUV is expressed through the tough seat shape when glancing at the cabin area. Utilizing the advantages of the BEV platform makes the interior space of the eVX spacious.
The sophisticated technological factor is also visualized through the large seamless display and the dial shift, so that it truly reflects High-tech x Adventure.
Although it is not stated how big the battery capacity will be embedded in the production version of the eVX, it is believed to have a cruising range of up to 550 km when fully charged.
This SUV is scheduled to be equipped with the latest EV 4WD ALLGRIP wheel drive system, which is an evolution of the 4-wheel drive specifically for electric cars from the system that Suzuki has developed in the past.
Minoru admitted that Indonesia has become Suzuki’s 3rd pillar in the world, in the company’s strong efforts to develop environmentally friendly vehicles and a global strategy to achieve carbon neutrality.
“Through the eVX electric car concept, this is one form of the future that Suzuki dreams of,” concluded Minoru. (dpid/ADV)
