Enrique Ponce’s family has been one of the families affected by the DANA in Valencia. Enriqueta and Emilio, the bullfighter’s parents, have been left without a home and without their family business in Chiva. Exclusively for ‘TardeAR’, Emilio Ponce opens up about how they are living these moments.
The ‘TardeAR’ cameras witnessed how Enrique Ponce’s parents’ home still has traces of mud. The lower part is completely destroyed. “We took out all the furniture little by little and threw it in the trash,” explained the bullfighter’s father.
It’s not the only loss they’ve had, Ponce’s family also suffered damages at the bar, which was a family business.. “There was a suit, photographs and things… at first he had his peña there,” says Ponce’s father about the high-value memories that were destroyed by the natural disaster.
For its part, Enrique Ponce had promised to go to Chiva as soon as he could, since tragedy caught him in the middle of a tour, and his father claims he kept his promise. In addition, Enrique Ponce will bullfight at a charity festival for those affected by DANA.
On the other hand, ‘TardeAR’ traveled to Chiva and verified that “there is still a lot to do”. Although the same streets that were previously bogged down with mud are now clearer, many businesses are still unable to open their doors.
