However, this is not the case for many electric cars, as some models can cost close to SEK 50,000 a year to insure. This is not a problem on brand new cars, as they have a carriage damage guarantee for the first three years and therefore do not require comprehensive insurance.

In the compilation of the electric cars that are the most expensive to insure, there is one brand that stands out, and that is Tesla.
The brand’s best-selling SUV Model Y Long Range is the most expensive car in the compilation to insure, with a monthly cost of between 2,626 and 4,141 kroner – which is an annual cost of between 31,512 and 49,692 kroner.
In second place we find the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, which according to the compilation costs SEK 2,444 to insure. In third place we find the large SUV Audi e-tron, with a monthly cost of SEK 2,335.
Common to the electric cars that are the most expensive to insure is that they are four-wheel drive with over 400 horsepower in effect.
Cheapest electric car to insure
When it comes to which electric cars are the cheapest to insure, it is Peugeot that takes the lead with its small e-208, which, according to the compilation, can be insured for as little as between SEK 413 and 1,539 a month.
The big sibling e-2008 also stands up well in the comparison, with a monthly cost of between SEK 461 and 1,555 a month.
