GORANKA Matić was born in 1949 in Maribor, died in Belgrade at the age of 76.
After completing her art history studies at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, she has been actively engaged in photography since 1980, and started her professional career in the magazine Juboks, continued in Start, Svijet, and her photos were published in almost all leading magazines of the former Yugoslavia.
During the 1980s, her work in the field of rock photography was most significant, especially within the informal new wave movement, when some of the iconic album covers of leading music groups, such as Idoli, U skripcu, Bajaga and instructors, Đorđe Balašević, along with portraits of artists, were created. , writers, directors, actors.
Goranka taught photo-journalism and documentary photography at the Faculty of Political Sciences and the Faculty of Media and Communication in Belgrade, and will be remembered as the first female photographer member of the photo section of ULUPUDS.
The spectacular retrospective exhibition Experience in the Crowd, which was organized for the first time at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade in 2021, was presented to the public in the Zrenjanin Museum from July 25 to September 9 last year in a more reduced format, and it will turn out to be the last in the life of the famous photographer .
