Two children are among the four people who were killed Saturday following an explosion at a gas station in the Chechen capital Grozny, the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian region announced, Reuters reports.
Authorities said a fuel tank exploded at the gas station, causing a fire. Five other people were injured.
Ramzan Kadîrov, the leader of Chechnya, said on Telegram that he had taken the situation under his personal control. He stated that those responsible for the explosion will be brought to justice, but did not provide additional details.
The explosions in September 2024 and August 2023 at gas stations in the neighboring Dagestan region killed 13 and 35 people, respectively.
Russian Telegram channels reported that a gas station on Muhammad Ali Avenue in Grozny, Chechnya, exploded. The causes are unknown.

The incident comes as Kadyrov clashed with Russian lawmakers from neighboring regions, whom he accused of trying to order his assassination and threatened with “revenge”.
