The Onassis Foundation Home presents “Nekyia” by Yiannis Angelakas and Christos Papadopoulos in Thessaloniki!
“Nekya”, the emblematic rhapsody of the “Odyssey”, is the “surround” echotropic descent into Hades created to introduce us to life. It premiered at Stegi, was sold out, was published in a book, traveled to Amsterdam and, now, is being staged in Thessaloniki. In fact, due to its success, a new date has been announced for the Thessaloniki Concert Hall!

“Come down heaven to earth/ to blow away our dark embers/ so that the unbearable silence becomes/ screams, sobs and words”. “Nekyia” by the leading creator of the Greek rock scene, Yiannis Angelakas, and the choreographer-revelation in Europe, Christos Papadopoulos, begins overwhelmingly, evocatively, mystically like a ritual experience of viewing and listening to the emblematic rhapsody of the Homeric epic. A “surround” echotropic situation is created on stage for the descent into Hades of Odysseus, who, following the advice of Circe, flees with his companions to the Underworld in order to receive the oracle from the seer Teiresias to return to Ithaca .
