Extraordinary concert of the Austrian Youth Orchestra (Wiener Jeunesse Orchester) at the Romanian Athenaeum

“Magic Summer” International Festival is preparing to offer the public a new exceptional musical event: Wednesday, July 31, starting at 7:30 p.m., Wiener Jeunesse Orchester – Austrian National Youth Orchestrawill give a concert at Romanian Athenaeum.

This prestigious ensemble, founded in 1987 in Vienna and consisting of talented students between the ages of 18 and 26 from all Austrian citieswill perform, under the direction of the conductor Herbert Boeck, an exciting program including works signed by Leonard Bernstein, Wolfgang Korngold and Gustav Mahler.

The concert will start with energy and brilliance Overture Candide of Leonard Bernstein. This piece, inspired by Voltaire’s satirical novel Candide, is a vibrant and witty work, reflecting the humor and irony of the original text. Composed in 1956, Overture Candide is a sample of orchestral virtuosity, combining elements of classical music and jazzcharacteristic of Bernstein’s eclectic style.

Next, the public will have the opportunity to listen Violin concerto in D major of Wolfgang Korngold, a composer renowned for both his classical music and film scores. Completed in 1945, this concerto is a lyrical and emotional work dedicated to violinist BronisÅ‚aw Huberman. The concerto is known for its melodic beauty and complexity, blending romantic influences with a modernist style. It is a masterpiece that highlights both the sensitivity and virtuosity of the soloist, promising a moment of great artistic intensity. The evening’s soloist will be violinist Daniel Auner, one of the most talented and acclaimed violinists of his generation, known for his impeccable technique and his emotional performances.

At the end of the evening, the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester will perform Symphony no. 1 in D major, “The Titan” by Gustav Mahler. This monumental work, composed between 1887 and 1888, is one of Mahler’s most beloved symphonies. Originally subtitled “The Titan” after Jean Paul’s novel of the same name, the symphony is an exploration of nature and human emotions. From its pastoral introduction to its triumphant finale, this symphony is an intense and profound musical journey that reflects the composer’s soulful landscapes. It is a work that demands the orchestra to its maximum, offering a spectacular and emotional listening experience.

The month of the oven ends in Bucharest with this concert performed by The Austrian Youth Orchestra on July 31, from 7:30 p.m., at the Romanian Athenaeum.

In August, Bucharest residents and tourists who visit us are invited to three concerts: The Youth Orchestra of Slovenia, on August 7, Romanian Youth Orchestra, led by Cristian Mandeal, Fr 14 august, “Magic Summer” International Festival Ending on Wednesday, August 21, with a concert by the Sinfonietta Orchestraconductor and soloist: violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky.
