F1: A decisive weekend is coming at Ferrari

With six race weekends before the end of this year’s Formula 1 season, the fate of the Constructors’ World Championship cannot be said to be over. It’s true, at the moment McLaren seems to be the strongest – and the current standings show this – with Red Bull and Ferrari within striking distance.

Since they have a 75-point deficit, the Maranello team is preparing for the American Grand Prix in such a way that it may be definitively decided this weekend whether they have a chance to have a say in the fight for the World Cup championship, at least that is what follows from the words of Carlos Sainz, who is leaving the team at the end of the year.

“The Monza weekend we are more and more confident that the improvements made to the car have started to work on most tracks,” said the Motorsport.com-son. “At the same time, I’ve always said that until we get to Austin and try them on a more traditional track, it’s going to be hard to judge how much we’ve really improved, because at tracks like Zandvoort and Spa we struggled a bit more.”

“From this point of view, this will be the most important test for us so far, to see if we are really moving in the right direction with the developments. I believe that our faith in the constructors’ championship can be strengthened in the next couple of races. If we perform every weekend from here on like we did in Singapore, Baku and Monza, we believe we can do it.”

The Spaniard also touched on the opposite scenario: he said that if they see a drop in Ferrari’s performance in Austin, Mexico and Brazil, it will obviously hurt their chances.

In agreement with Sainz, Charles Leclerc also spoke about the fact that the Italian team is moving in the right direction, but the next three weekends could be a watershed in terms of year-end objectives. “For sure, a very important weekend is coming up. At the same time, I would not say that it is much more important than any other weekend where we arrived with improvements,” remarked the Monaco native.

“Until now, it has been difficult to judge the innovations we have implemented in past competitions. Now a good location is coming from this point of view, and we are confident that we will get good feedback that this is really the right direction”, continued Leclerc, who can even win the individual World Cup title, although he is 86 points behind the leader of the list Max Verstappen rather, you have mathematical odds. “I hope we won’t learn anything new, nor will anything come to light that we didn’t understand before.”
