F1: Contract in vain, will this be Perez’s last year?

Red Bull extended the contract with Sergio Perez at the beginning of the summer, the Mexican received a 1+1 year contract, but in connection with his struggles this year, it is a constant topic that he will not complete it with the team.

The Mexican got away with being replaced by Daniel Ricciardo already during the summer break, in fact, since then the Australian has been dropped so that Liam Lawson, who already replaced him last year, could prove himself at VCARB, but Perez still cannot be calm about the continuation, the motorsport boss of the energy drink manufacturer, Helmut Marko indicates that the line-up of both their teams is still open for 2025.

Methuselah said on the Austrian ORF broadcast that Perez is also part of the consideration regarding the role of Lawson, Cunoda Juki and their F2 protégé Isack Hadjar next year.

“I don’t know anymore, last year (Lawson) how many times was he faster than Juki, but that’s why we decided that it’s time to compare which of them is faster” Lawson said about sending him to the competition.

Marko said he has an inkling of which driver will drive where for the Red Bull teams next year, “but we’ll see”.

“Juki has clearly improved a lot. He controls himself better. He used to be terrible on the radio at times, and his outbursts slowed him down. This bothered me the most. But that’s over, now it performs fast and predictably on every track” he explained. “Additionally, the deployment of young people has become fashionable. Mercedes is already doing the same with Antonelli, the Haas Bearman, as we are, and hopefully there will be a place for Colapinto somewhere.”

The Austrian finally said he thinks Max Verstappen will be world champion again in 2025, “ideally with a young person from our youth program on his side” – hinted at the possible dismissal of Perez.
