As is known, Valtteri Bottas’ contract, which expires at the end of 2024, was not extended by the Kick Sauber Formula 1 team, leaving the ten-time grand prix winner without a driver’s seat. Of course, this does not mean that the Finn automatically becomes unemployed. A few weeks ago, there were already reports that Bottas could return to the place of his greatest success, Mercedes in some role.

The team boss Toto Wolff himself clarified the speculations that Bottas could return to his previous team as a reserve driver or perhaps as a consultant. “We haven’t signed anything, nothing is ready, but if we can take him back to the family, we will all be happy,” said the Austrian. “What can I say if we have the opportunity to bring a driver of Valtteri’s caliber back into the Mercedes family, who also has experience with these modern cars? We can feel incredibly lucky.”

From Wolff’s sentences, the 35-year-old Bottas’s role as a test driver is mostly outlined. The team leader, by the way he admittedthat agreement is actually only a “matter of time”.
