Charles Leclerc can start from fourth place in the Formula 1 Mexico City Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver from Monaco was slower than his pole-position team-mate all weekend, and he didn’t hide it.

“I was nowhere. When I got into the car during the second training session, I knew I didn’t have the feeling. I wasn’t anywhere in the third training session and I wasn’t in the time trial either. Fourth place was the best I could manage,” said the Monaco native.

However, Leclerc was not depressed. On the one hand, he also started the American Grand Prix from fourth place, then won easily, and the gallop to the first turn in Mexico also holds opportunities for advancement. On the other hand, he didn’t excel in one round, but he did in long stages. “The only thing to be optimistic about is that I think I was the fastest in terms of race pace. I know my driving style. On low grip tracks like Monza or this, I struggle a bit. However, the race came together quite well in Monza,” the driver looked back on his won race.

“I’m sure the race pace will be there, but I also need a good start to be in contention for the win,” he said.
