This year’s Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix is perhaps one of the hottest ever. Although the temperature has already dropped a few degrees, it was still the same on Friday, when the temperature of the asphalt exceeded 60 degrees Celsius.
This is certainly not good news for Mercedes. The team of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell excelled in recent weekends, but each time the weather was cooler, which favored them. However, the Hungaroring produces the exact opposite of this, and according to Hamilton, their hay doesn’t even look good.
“We didn’t have a good day. The weather is good, it’s great to be here, but we weren’t in shape. The car was not good in terms of settings, not the best preparation. We adjusted it a bit (between the two free practice sessions – ed.), but the car was approx. it was the same,” said the seven-time world champion.
Hamilton added that although they are now lagging behind their rivals, the difference is not great. “Maybe we couldn’t go as fast as the others, and the ends of the long stages were really great. Anyway, the car feels just as bad as usual in the heat,” he said.
