While Mercedes wants the services of Lewis Hamilton, who leads Ferrari from 2025 until the end of his contract, until the end of the year, Carlos Sainz, who was sent by the Italian team for the sake of the seven-time world champion, will start work at his future team, Williams, much earlier.

It was already known that the Spaniard will be sitting in the Grove team’s car during the tire test following the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Tuesday, but now, in Qatar, it has been revealed that he is actually starting work for his new team the day after the finale.

Williams rented the Yas Marina circuit for the Monday after the end of the season for the second filming day of the year, which is guaranteed by the rules, so Sainz, after taking off the red overalls in the evening, hides in the blue overalls the next morning in order to cover a maximum of 200 km on Pirelli’s demo tires (this approx. 35 laps on the Abu Dhabi asphalt strip).

It is interesting that Sainz will also remain a contracted employee of Ferrari until December 31st, so the logos and inscriptions of the Williams sponsors will be missing from his competition outfit.
