Just a few hours before the start of the 39th Hungarian Grand Prix, Prime Minister Gergely Gulyás held talks with Stefano Domenicali, the number one man in Formula 1, and Mohammed bin Sulajm, president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).
At an impromptu, few-minute press conference in front of the F1 motorhome, Gulyás said that “we are on the right track”but the negotiations he characterized as fruitful “a serious part of it took place in recent years, when we agreed on what kind of developments are necessary in order for Formula 1 to remain in Hungary in the long term”. The Hungarian Grand Prix contract currently runs until 2032.
In connection with the renovations, he highlighted, the next phase of the HUF 105 billion investment will follow this year’s competition.
For the first time, an exact date has been announced for the expected completion of the renovation: according to the plans, the Hungaroring will be completely completed by April 20, 2026, but it is conceivable that “investors will be even slightly faster”.
On Saturday, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó also paid his respects at the Hungaroring.
