Faster and cheaper to Europe

A350-900 planes of the Turkish company will fly four times a week from Sydney

Residents of the east coast of Australia, and especially residents of Sydney, will receive a new connection with the European continent from December 5. Namely, from that day on, a regular airline line will be launched that will connect the largest Australian city with Istanbul, and via the Turkish metropolis and further with centers throughout Europe, including Belgrade, Sarajevo and Zagreb.

The Turkish airline Turkish Airlines has entered into cooperation with Sydney’s Kingsford-Smith airport and in a little more than two months its planes will start operating on the mentioned route four times a week.

Initially, Turkish Airlines will fly via Kuala Lumpur, and in the near future it is expected to launch a direct Sydney-Istanbul route, which will bring passengers a faster, simpler and more comfortable connection with Europe. It will be a revolutionary change in travel between two distant continents.

The Turkish airline already flies from Melbourne to Istanbul three times a week via Singapore, but will now have a service from Sydney for the first time. Also, it is the only European company after British Airways that will fly to Australia, after all other major operators from the Old Continent withdrew several years ago.

Turkish Airlines flies to more countries than any other carrier in the world, covering 130 destinations with connecting flights to as many as 340 cities.

The Turks appeared not only with top-notch service, but also with an extremely attractive offer, which could have an effect on lowering the prices of tickets to Europe, due to greater competition on the market. It has been announced that an economy class ticket will be available from 1,450 Australian dollars, while business class will also be very affordable – with a price starting at 6,480 dollars.

– We are proud that Turkish Airlines has chosen Sydney and New South Wales for its first non-stop flight. It’s a big deal and a strong endorsement of everything our city and country has to offer – said Sydney Airport CEO Scott Charlton.

He emphasized that, until the direct line starts, passengers will be able to enjoy the services of the award-winning airline from Sydney to Istanbul via Kuala Lumpur.

The deal between Sydney Airport and the Turkish carrier could generate more than $53 million in visitor spending in Sydney, Destination NSW said. It is also estimated that 290 new jobs will be created thanks to the agreement.

329 passengers per flight

From December 5 of this year until the end of May 2025, Turkish Airlines will fly from Sydney to Istanbul and vice versa, using modern Airbus A350-900 aircraft. These aircraft have 32 seats in business class and 297 in economy class, which means that 1,316 passengers will be able to be transported from Sydney to the Bosphorus per week.
