Therefore, you should not use SMS

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has gone out and warned the US population about fake text messages. They say it’s easy for the conversations to be manipulated and therefore fake text messages can appear to come from someone you usually text with, reports CNBC.

How does this affect us in Sweden?

– You definitely have to realize that SMS can no longer be trusted, says the Swedish cyber security expert André Catry till SVT News.

He believes that the phenomenon also occurs in Sweden, although it is not discussed so much here.

The FBI recommends using “end-to-end” encrypted apps instead to protect the conversation, which Catry agrees with. Examples of such apps are Google Message or Whatsapp.
