FC Bayern | Harry Kane totally devastated: Christoph Freund takes a stand

After the latest title defeat with the English national team, Harry Kane is devastated. FC Bayern hopes that the striker can get over the pain of the European Championship final during his three-week vacation.

“It was of course hard for him not to win the final after such a European Championship. It was not his first final,” explained Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund on Tuesday during the presentation of new signing Hiroki Ito (VfB Stuttgart).

Kane had lost the European Championship final with the Three Lions, Spain deservedly won 2-1 (0-0). It was “heartbreaking that we couldn’t achieve what we worked so hard for,” admitted the captain after the defeat.

According to Freund, however, he is already looking forward: “He is now getting back on his feet, recharging his batteries and enjoying time with his family.”

Kane has recently been struggling with persistent back problems. The 30-year-old, one of six top scorers at the European Championships, was substituted early against Spain.

Not only at FC Bayern: “Very, very long season” for Kane

FC Bayern is hoping that the record signing for the first season will recover under new coach Vincent Kompany. On Wednesday, the Munich star ensemble will train for the first time under Thomas Tuchel’s successor.

“It was also a very, very long season for Harry, but he will also get the three weeks’ holiday that every player gets,” stressed Freund. It is important for the veteran to get some distance.

The sports director continued: “We have another very, very intense autumn ahead of us and that’s why Harry now has three weeks to recover.”

Kane will miss the South Korea trip starting July 31 and will not return to the team until August.

In the previous season, the world-class striker, who came from Tottenham for 95 million euros, scored 44 goals in 45 competitive matches. However, he brought his title curse with him to Säbener Straße.
