FC Barcelona continues to work hard to bring together Spain’s dream duo Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams. The latest developments are bad news for FC Bayern.
The Munich team is one of the clubs that are also interested in signing Nico Williams. This was claimed by “Marca” a few days ago. Given the strong performances that the 22-year-old showed at the European Championships and his agreed transfer fee of “only” 60 million euros, it is not surprising that the winger is on the wish list of almost all well-known clubs.
According to Spanish media, however, FC Barcelona has by far the best cards. This week, sporting director Deco is said to have pushed the deal forward. In this context, Mundo Deportivo reported on a meeting between Deco and Williams’ agent in Zaragoza.
Williams wants to move to Barcelona
It is not clear what was discussed in detail. However, the newspaper writes of a clear trend in the Williams camp. This includes a move to the Catalans. The 22-year-old would like to be reunited with Lamine Yamal, alongside whom he caused a sensation in the Spanish national team at the European Championships in Germany.
According to “Mundo Deportivo”, coach Hansi Flick has long expressed his desire to sign Williams. The figures are said to be no problem for the Catalans. It is said that the transfer fee of 60 million euros can be covered by the club.
It is not entirely clear whether FC Barcelona would have to sell a player in return. However, some media outlets are speculating about it. The Brazilian Raphinha and the Uruguayan Ronald Araújo are mentioned repeatedly in this context. The latter is reportedly only allowed to leave if an offer of 100 million euros is on the table.
